Architects Hatch
The term Architects Hatch has been borrowed from CAD-architecture software and means the shading of objects whose surfaces are to be defined at a later date.
The protagonists of these sculptures and pieces of furniture are the materials used to create them: Chipboard, Corian, Polyethylene foam. The sharp diagonal lines signify the consistent denial of thedecorative aspect. They constitute a dummy parameter for a possible future design. The concept of this collection carries this denial through to the final design. Model and shape are united and thereby become the skin of the object. The furniture is manufactured from poplar chipboard. Nevertheless the chipboard is not veneered or coated, but it is left untreated and combined with inlaid Corian. The theme will be the cliché of the chipboard which is currently the centre of attention and is very attractive thanks to its combination with a high quality epoxy resin. The Sculpture family of black on white polyethylene foam is derived from the reciprocal action between form and texture. It seems asif the rigid diagonal stratification of the material sculpts the sensuous and playful shapes of the sculptures whilst creating, in reality, amazing new forms and perspectives.
